Who we are
Home Improvement Guide (homeimprovementguide.co.uk) ("we", "us") is an independent introduction service that connects homeowners with vetted, independent window installers. We are the data controller for the personal information you send us through this website.
What we collect
When you request a quote through our form, we collect:
- Contact and enquiry details — your first and last name, email address, phone number, postcode, and whether you own the property.
- Marketing attribution — which advert or campaign brought you to the site (for example campaign source, medium and search term), advertising click identifiers set by platforms such as Google or Meta, and the page you landed on.
- Technical details — your IP address and browser type, captured when you submit the form.
We don't ask for, and you shouldn't send us, any sensitive personal information.
How we use your information
- To contact you about your application. We will contact you by phone, directly in relation to the quote application you made through this site, to find out a little more about your windows and what you need. We may also email you about the same application. We do not contact you about anything unrelated to it.
- To introduce your installer. Once we understand what you need, we pass your details to the vetted local installer we match you with, so they can prepare your quote.
- To manage your enquiry in our systems, including preventing duplicate or fraudulent submissions.
- To measure which of our adverts and campaigns work, so we can spend our marketing budget sensibly.
We do not sell your details, and we do not add you to marketing mailing lists.
Our lawful bases
By submitting the quote form you agree that we will contact you about your application in accordance with this policy — this consent is our basis for calling you and for passing your details to your matched installer. We also rely on our legitimate interests to operate the service securely and measure our own advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.
Who we share it with
- Your matched installer — the independent installer we introduce you to, so they can arrange your quote. Once they hold your details they are a data controller in their own right.
- Our service providers — the enquiry-management and website-hosting providers that run our systems, acting on our instructions only.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records only as long as we need them to administer your enquiry, resolve any follow-up questions and meet our legal obligations, and no longer.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, object to our use of it, or provide it to you in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below — we'll respond within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
